I have a finished Janet Lace Shawl, unblocked:
I haven’t figured out HOW I’m going to block it yet. I still have a few ends to weave in, so I don’t know if it’s better before or after blocking. I ran out of yarn on the cast off row…but luckily a nice person on Ravelry offered me her ball of yarn for free. I had it on standby. But I would have been royally hacked off if I ran out of the EXTRA yarn I already BOUGHT. Word to the wise? Double check yarn requirements from Knitpicks.
Next, I finished spinning half of my pretty roving:
It’s about 180 yards, at my best guess. I was considering chain plying it, but that means I’d only get 60 yards. Well double that once I spin the other half. But we’ll see, I suppose.
And lastly, I got my first club kit from Butterfly Girl Designs’ spindle and fibre club:
It’s a merino/bamboo blend – it’s my first time spinning from batts rather than roving. It’s much fluffier, therefore harder to control flyaways when breaking off a piece to spin. But it’s very soft and fun to spin. The spindle has an Opalite whorl which I think is very pretty indeed.
Life is busy these days. There should be more time devoted to spinning and knitting rather than working, I think.
