Well I still have a long way to go in getting this right, but I’m very pleased with how these two turned out. I don’t intend to name my yarn – I don’t “do” names. If I start dyeing more often, I’ll give them names that are indicative of the colours represented, but nothing faffy like “Morning Sunrise” or “Dancing with Fairies”. If I end up eating these words, I’ll be the first to proclaim it.
Anyway, here we are (and please ignore the blue acrylic ties):
This is obviously very primary – cool, but primary nonetheless. In case you need reminding, this is the wool-silk blend. It’s very shiny!
And here is the other:
This one has been reskeined. It got horribly tangled after its initial soak – that’ll teach me not to trust that the ties already put there will be adequate! Next time there will be more ties – took no chances after the 4+ hours it took me to untangle this as there are 4 ties on it to prevent it from tangling again before I wind it into a ball. Anyway, you can see how much cooler it looks when the colours are all mixed up and stripey. I should try it with the other one if I’m feeling particularly masochistic before I want to wind it into a ball.
I’d like to try hand painting again soon! I have the itch, as it were…I don’t think I’ll order from Knitpicks for the yarn again. Dharma Trading had some nice offers, plus in bigger batches. They also have a nice sport weight version of the same yarn I dyed for the SKB! I’d love to try painting that kind because of the high silk content – with some of those nice bold colours, I think it would look lovely! All in good time, of course……

They’re beautiful! Well done you!
