Alpaca excitement!

February 12th, 2007 · No Comments · Works in Progress

Alpaca has truly become one of my favourite fibers. Observe:

Alpaca poncho start

Joseph Galler Prime Alpaca. Soft and fantastic. Knitted two strands at once in the baby cable pattern. This is going to be a sort-of poncho – there’s an interesting twist (sort of) that makes it more wrap-y and less poncho-y. But I expect most people to say “Hey look, a poncho!”
Then there’s this loveliness:

Success

I bought enough of this to make myself a sweater of some kind. It’s Cascade Success (50% Alpaca, 50% Mulberry Silk) – not sure of the colour name as the tags are all faded. I think this yarn is discontinued, which is a shame because it’s gorgeous. Not 100% decided on a pattern yet. Not sure I have quite enough for a wrap-around, but the more I touch it, the more I am thinking of something more elegant. 3/4 sleeves with lacy edges…I have a vision, but nothing concrete yet.
